Anthony Ferner is Lecturer in Flute at the School of Music University of Canterbury and Principal Flute Emeritus of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra after 24 years in the position of Principal Flute.
Previously Winner of the NZ National Concerto Competition in 1972 he then studied at the Guildhall School of Music London. A career of 50 years of professional orchestral, ensemble, solo playing and conducting has followed. This included 17 years playing in Sydney where he played Principal Olute with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, also the Opera Australia Orchestra and was heard on ABC FM radio as a concert artist. He has been a keen tutor through out this time and is passionate about preparing students for competitions, tertiary education and orchestral playing.
His post graduate students has gone on for further studies overseas and to professional careers in music.
He is looking forward to teaching in IAMF Summer School at UC 2021.
Edith is a Naxos recording artist and has recorded for Stradivarius Milan, Atoll records, New Zealand and for radio and TV in Europe, the US, Canada, Asia and Australasia.
She is a sought after teacher, who had Senior lecturer positions for cello at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch and the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Currently she is acting lecturer for cello at Melbourne University.
In 2019 /20 she will tour the UK and Europe as well as give masterclasses in New Zealand and Australia and record for Naxos and Rattle Records.
