Warmest congratulations to PNJA piano student, Delvan Lin (student of Dr. Rae de Lisle) on his admission to the Young Artist Summer Program as part of Curtis Summerfest 2015. He will be off to Curtis for three weeks middle of the year for intensive trainings on Chamber Music, Solo performance and Master classes.

27Aug Rangi Ruru Music Scholar Wins Young Musician of the Year
Rangi Ruru Girls’ School Music Scholar Grace McKenzie (Year 9) has been named the 2013 Young Musician of the Year by the Christchurch Branch of the Registered Music Teachers’ of New Zealand.
Grace performed a programme two works on the piano at an event on Friday evening, where she won 1st prize and $400. Adjudicated by Trinity College examiner Peter Evans, from London, many present in the audience commented on the way that Grace ‘drew the audience into her playing.
Director of Music at Rangi Ruru, Janet Kingsbury, says Grace is an exceptionally talented young woman who applies herself completely to her musical studies and performance. 11Jul Seoul National Music Competition for young musicians
Dominic competed in the Seoul National Music Competition for young musicians in Seoul and got first place! He was the overall winner for woodwinds, strings and singing. His sister, Anna, got the next highest mark and got second place in this competition. Congratulations Dominic & Anna!
10Jun Congratulations Dominic Lee!
Excellent news just came from PNJA Tauranga student Dominic Lee, one of our special scholarship recipients 2013.
Dominic and his sister Anna have been competing in the International Viotti Valsesia Competition in Varallo, Italy. Dominic won first place in his age group with a mark of 98/100, he received the highest overall mark of all instruments of all ages. In addition to this he was awarded the 1st prize and the Monterosa Kawai Prize in the finals of winners concert. Anna Lee was awarded the first prize in her age group with a score of 96/100. Congratulations to the Lee family for these fantastic results.
26Jan Benedict Lim’s ‘Passion for Music’!
Benedict Lim (violin) was selected to perform in the International Young Musicians Festival “PASSION OF MUSIC 2012” Winners’ Concert at Weill Recital Hall at the Carnegie Hall, New York in January 2012. He then went on to participate in the Kocian Violin Competition in the Czech Republic, where he received the second prize in his age group. In May, Benedict travelled to Italy to compete in the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition, where he won a special prize. His playing was exceedingly well received by the leading violin teachers in New York and Vienna and his achievements are of the highest level for such a young player.
