Lachlan Craig

Lachlan holds a Masters in Music with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland, studying Voice with Dr. Morag Atchison and Dr. Te Oti Rakena, and Choral Conducting with Dr. Karen Grylls. Lachlan also studied at The 2015 and 2017 Choral Music Institute at Oxford University under Dr. James Jordan and Dr. James Whitbourn.  

He is a former member of Voices NZ Chamber Choir and currently a Freemasons Studio Artist with NZ Opera.  Lachlan is also in regular demand as an oratorio soloist, with a speciality singing the role of Bach’s Evangelist.  Lachlan is currently the Performing Arts Coordinator at Diocesan School for Girls, where he oversees the Choral and Instrumental programme, as well as being the Musical Director for the schools shows.  Prior to that he was the Director of Choirs and Strings at Saint Kentigern College, directing the award-winning Chamber Orchestra, as well as the multi award-winning choirs Kentoris and Menasing.   

Lachlan is the current Director of Music and Conductor of the Auckland Youth Choir and the Wallace Youth Chamber Orchestra which under his leadership has grown to be one of Auckland’s largest and successful community choirs.  The choir was recently awarded Gold and the Adjudicators Command Performance at the Australian International Music Festival in the Sydney Opera House.  He is in regular demand in NZ and abroad as a tenor soloist, conductor, teacher, adjudicator and clinician.
