Ben Hoadley graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, continuing postgraduate studies on a full scholarship to the New England Conservatory in Boston where he was the first wind player in over a decade to be awarded the prestigious Artist Diploma. During this time he served as principal bassoonist in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, also playing in the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops. Ben was a Fellowship student at the Tanglewood Music Centre, Weill Music Academy at Carnegie Hall, and the Australian National Academy of Music, and studied historical bassoon for several summers in Italy and Switzerland. Ben is Lecturer in bassoon at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, and taught previously at the University of Auckland School of Music and the Hartt School of Music, USA. He has presented masterclasses throughout Australasia, USA and Asia and is a busy soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player on both sides of the Tasman, often working with the Opera Australia Orchestra, Sydney Symphony, Australian Chamber Orchestra and many others. In New Zealand he has appeared as concerto soloist with the NZSO, APO, Christchurch Symphony and Auckland Chamber Orchestra.
